Microblading Pre/Post Care
Micropigmentation is not for clients who are:
- Pregnant or nursing
- Diabetic
- Undergoing Chemotherapy (Consult with you doctor)
- Viral infections (diseases)
- Had Botox within a 2 week period of appointment
- Had an organ transplant
- Epilepsy
- Sick with a cold or flu-like virus
- Used A ccutane in the past 6 months.
Pre-appointment
- Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation) on the brow area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Any waxing or brow shaping should be done at least 2 days before.
- If you tint your brows, tint it at least one week prior to the procedure.
- Cosmetic botox or fillers should be done 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks after.
- DO NOT consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, Niacin 48 hours before your procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results).
You may come in with how you normally draw in your brows so I can see what you are used to. This is especially important for clients who desire a specific brow shape. If you are open to suggestions, I am happy to help design a custom brow to personally suit you. - You may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle.
- For added comfort please feel free to ask any pharmacist for EMLA which is a numbing sollution you can apply prior to the appointment to make sure you are even more comfortable. Apply it to your brows and cover brows with saran wrap for 60 min before your appointment. You can use the remaining EMLA prior to your touch up appointment (should you need one). This is not necessary however for some nervous clients, it is comforting.
- We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, and moles in or around the brow area.
Aftercare
- Aftercare is crucial, it is very important to follow these instructions for the full 10 day healing period to ensure proper healing and color retention. Results will vary for all individuals and we can not guarantee your results.
- It’s important to follow the “take home” aftercare given to you at the end of your appointment. Refrain from swimming or submerging the area in water for long periods of time for the first week of healing. Following this makeup tattoo aftercare procedure will ensure the formation of thin scabs thus more color retention. Keep out of the sun for 7 days after you get your tattoo.
What to expect
- DO NOT expect your brows to heal perfectly after the first session. This can be a 2 step process. It takes time. BE PATIENT during your 10 day healing process your brows will change and appear different from day to day.
- Immediately after your procedure, brows will appear darker and more defined and this will last up to 2 weeks . Your brows can appear more solid, hair strokes may seem to disappear and it may look wet and painted on.
- Around days 4-5 you will experience flaking and your brows may look dry. DO NOT PICK your brows, let any dryness fall off naturally. If flakes get picked off prematurely missing hair stokes will result and cause patchy brows which can lead to scarring.
- Your brows will take up to 4 weeks to fully heal. When the flaking comes off the hair strokes may seem faint this is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the brows. Give your brows a few weeks and the hair strokes will become clearer. Color will continue to change on a daily basis until all healing is complete at the 4 week mark.
- You may experience itchiness in the brows after the 10 days for up to 4 weeks due to the healing process of the dermal layer.
- Not everyones hair stroke brows can heal clean and crisp. Hair strokes for oilier skin types tend to heal more solid and powdery while drier skin types tend to heal more crisp and defined. Also for those who bleed more may tend to need more touchups as the blood pushes the pigment out during the procedure.
Things not to do
- DO NOT expose your brows to the sun during the healing process. UV Rays can alter the pigment of your brows. Following the first 10 days SPF is important for the longevity your micropigmentation.
- DO NOT sweat excessively for 10 days. Sweat contains salt and can infect and prematurely fade your brow tattoo. Salt in the sweat may also alter the color of your brows. Moderate exercise is fine.
- DO NOT run direct water on your brows. This is especially important in the first few days, you do not want to wash out any pigment.
- DO NOT use Vaseline on your brows.
- DO NOT use any makeup, creams, exfoliants on the brows for 10 days.
- DO NOT go into saunas, pools, and steam rooms.
- DO NOT get massages or facials or skin treatments during the healing process.
- DO NOT go tanning and if you do cover your brows, UV rays can alter the color of your brows.
- DO not use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHA’s on the brow area. It will fade your brows prematurely.
- DO NOT use laser light therapy on your brows. This can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment.
Touch ups
Allow your brows a MINIMUM of 4 weeks to heal before booking a touch up. This gives you the time to decide if you do or do not need a touch up appointment. It’s takes a full 4 weeks for the color to settle. It is your responsibility to book your touch up appointments. Please keep the high demand in mind. If your brows comes back too faded additional charges may apply.
- Touch ups are typically done within the first 3 months after the initial appointment.
- This can be a 2 (and sometimes even 3) step process.
- The first session is used to build shape and gain symmetry.
- The second session is used to perfect the brows and add density.
- This is a process and some clients may need multiple sessions to achieve their desired result.
- Do not expect perfect results after the first session.
- Darker skin and oily skin women, permanent makeup will not look as bold or sharp compared to lighter, dryer skin type clients.
- Some client’s skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions.
Long term care
- THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF RESULTS as everyone’s result will vary due to skin type, lifestyle and the initial 10 day care and longterm care of your brow tattoo.
- Use at least SPF 50 to protect your brows, sun exposure will cause fading and can alter the color of the brows.
- Do not use chemical exfoliants on the brows, this will case the brows to fade faster.
- Do not do laser your brow area (IPL etc), some lasers may change the color of the ink.
- As the brows fade, the strokes will get fainter and less defined.
- Maintenance is required to maintain desired results. Touchups are done on average every 9 – 24 months to maintain you brow tattoo.
- Brows typically last 1-3 years.
Lip Blush Pre/Post Care
Before your Appointment:
Your lips cannot be dry for the appointment. If they are dry we will need to reschedule and you will forfeit your deposit. You may exfoliate 3 days before your appointment to remove any dry skin. You can use a lip scrub or create your own using a little honey and brown sugar. For the week leading up to the appointment you must moisturize your lips as much as possible (I recommend using aquaphor).
*IMPORTANT*
Cold sores are a risk of lip blush tattoo. If you have had a cold sore in the past- we advise you to go to the doctor for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak. Even if you have not had a cold sore before- I recommend all of my clients take L-lysine 2 weeks before the appointment and 2 weeks following the appointment to reduce the risk.
After your Appointment:
Lips will feel swollen and very dry after your treatment. Apply ointment on lips several times a day. This should be done for at least 14 days post treatment. Do not allow lips to become dry. This may interfere with healed color. During the day if lips feel dry, apply a liberal amount of ointment. Just tap on skin and do not rub in.
Always use a clean Q-tip, not fingers to apply ointment to the lips area. This will reduce the risk of infection.
After lips are no longer tender to the touch they may become flaky. This is normal and is expected. Please do not pick or scratch at them. This may significantly reduce the amount pigment absorption. Avoid the sun and tanning beds pre and post procedure. Be sure to use a sun block once lips are healed. Do not use any Glycolic, Hydroxy or fruit acid products on lips. Avoid direct water pressure, pools and other bodies of water, until healed. You can resume wearing lipstick once lips are healed. Redness, swelling, tenderness, dryness are all common post treatment side effects and will dissipate in a short period of time. Avoid oily, salty, acidic foods and alcohol while healing.
Lips are a muscle and may require a touch-up session to complete the process of this procedure. Lips are unpredictable. Some clients will yield very strong healed lip color. Others will only heal with slight color uptake. This will vary on an individual basis. Clients with sun damage, scar tissue (from injury or fever blisters) and clients with implants may not have strong results. Hyperpigmentation can happen on any lip client without warning. If you have a history of Fever Blisters, Cold Sores or Chicken Pox, we advise you to go to the doctor or for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak. Follow all before and after instructions after all lip treatments. Lip retouch must be scheduled 30 to 45 days apart from initial season to help with color retention.
Lips heal in three stages: Too dark – Too light – Just right. This takes one month to happen. Please avoid any friction to lip area.
Eyelash Enhancement Pre/Post Care
Your skin will be temporarily sensitized after the treatment and you should adhere to the following instructions for the next 10 days. This will help avoid infection and allow time for the skin to recover.
If you apply makeup during the next 5 days following your treatment, you do so entirely at your own risk.
Healing can take up to 10 days and it is perfectly normal for small scabbing to appear on the treated area. These should be allowed to fall off naturally over a period of a few days.
After the treatment; It is also normal for there to be fading of the color during the first 2 weeks and patchy sections, as the skin is still healing and the pigment will return to the surface in about 30 days. The outcome will be subtle. This IS NOT eyeliner tattoo, it is Eyelash Enhancement. A soft shadowed enhancement to your lash line to create the illusion of fuller lashes. This will not replace the use of eyeliner but instead give you a natural eye enhancement.
Instructions
- For the 10 days following the tattoo procedure, wash the site gently and apply ointment 2 times per day
- With eyes closed wash the site gently with gentle soap and warm water using your hands only. (baby shampoo is ideal)
- Blot the area dry. Do not rub with a towel.
- With eyes closed massage ointment in gently for 10 seconds and then gently blot off the excess goo. Be careful to not get any ointment in the eyes as it will burn.
- After blotting, the area should not be oily or greasy to the touch. Allow the skin to breathe.
- Sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights to reduce swelling.
Expect moderate swelling, usually one to three days following the eyelash enhancement procedure. While healing, the tattoo will look spotty. This is due to healing skin regeneration. Once healed, it can fade up to 50%. Multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired results.
Cautions
- Do not pick at the tattoo site at any time during healing.
- Be careful not to get ointment in your eyes and use it sparingly.
- Do not let the area dry out completely, since this can cause scabbing and cracking of skin surface.
- Do not touch the treated area.
- Do not use creams or make up on the treated area(s).
- Avoid facial treatments such as eyelash tinting, perming or lifting.
- Avoid abrasive materials such as rough towels or similar.
- Avoid taking hot baths, saunas or other heat treatments.
- Avoid sunbathing, using sunbeds or swimming.
- Avoid hot yoga/spin class for 10 days. Moderate exercise is ok.
- Avoid Makeup for 5 days. If you apply makeup you do so at your own risk.
If small scabs appear on the treated area, DO NOT TOUCH THEM. They will fall off in a few days.
There are no implied or written guarantees if you don’t take care of your Permanent Makeup.
Should infection occur, seek immediate medical attention.
