As a beauty business owner, I’m for all cosmetic procedures; in moderation. I believe whatever makes your inner self feel more confident and uplifting, go for it!
As an eyebrow specialist/ permanent makeup artist, I am partial to what facial features should receive the most attention. They say “Eyes are the window to your soul,” however eyebrows are even more significant than our eyes, as they literally frame your entire face.
Lips are my second most important facial feature that deserves attention because they determine your personality. Think about it. We express our thoughts both verbally and through the facial expressions we make, whether it be happy, sad, angry, or surprised. In fact, recent studies suggest lip shape may signify psychological peculiarities and personality traits. Living in the world of selfies, lips appear to be the center of attention from a ”kissy face”, “duck face” or “model pout”. As a society, we are hyper-aware of beauty treatments that are “the latest and greatest” and legitimately give instantly noticeable and improved results.
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips. Injectable dermal fillers are the most commonly used method of lip augmentation. Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that is injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, soften creases, or enhance facial contours. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body. This is the main ingredient in FDA-approved fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane. I’ve never had lip injections, but from what I’ve
heard from my clients, it can be painful even with numbing cream, and the effects only last 4 months – 1 year. The price of lip augmentation can cost upwards of $500-$700 per syringe. Lip fillers also require maintenance and require touch-ups. A major downside is the side effects of fillers, which is commonly temporary bruising and/or swelling following the procedure for days to weeks.
But many of you may not be aware of a permanent makeup service that accomplishes more of the affects of fillers without the pain! It is called Lip blushing or Lip Blush tattoo. Permanent lip liner was all the rage back in the 90’s and has now come back revamped and more natural-looking as “lip blush”. This semi-permanent treatment involves inserting pigments into the edges and around your lips. Gone are the days of harsh lip lines. Lip blushing is a less invasive procedure and the outcome is way more natural.
And that’s not all. Lip blush tattoo also enhances your natural lip shape, symmetry, and color. How? The pigment applied defines your lips and can actually conceal imperfections based on your skin tone and personal preference. By adding permanent color to your lips in a natural shade, this means you don’t have to apply lipstick everyday! The results are beautiful, perfectly colored, fuller-looking lips.
Lip blush results last longer than traditional fillers and the healing process is shorter and easier to correct. The results of Lip blush last between 2-4 years and costs anywhere from $500-$1500.
You have likely seen women with too much filler, strutting the quintessential protruding “duck lips”. If you are unhappy with your lips, or you notice as you age they aren’t what they used to be, you are not alone. In my expert opinion, heir on the side of caution and try to go with a cosmetic procedure that will only add to your beauty, not distract.
